Banaganapally Women Farmer Producercompany Limited is a bit different because it’s mostly us women running things. We are based out of Palukuru, right by the vegetable market. We use the space C/O M Krishnaiah. It’s a very busy area. You can hear the goats and the trucks all day long. We aren't in a quiet office building. We are right in the middle of the noise. Banaganapally is where we grew up and where we farm. We have our own land and our own ways of doing things. We decided to start this company to help ourselves get a better deal at the market. It’s not easy being a woman in this business, but we manage. We don't have a big staff. We do the work ourselves. We handle the bags and we do the counting. Sometimes we have to stay late at the market to finish everything. We don't have a polished way of speaking. We just tell it like it is. If the prices are low, we worry. If the harvest is good, we are relieved. Our hands are usually stained from the vegetables. We don't have a mission statement on the wall. We just have our families to support. We’re just trying to make a decent living here in Palukuru. It’s hard, but we are proud of what we do.
