Jayakumaran Bricks

We are located at 554, Komarapalayam Road in Rasipuram. It is a stretch of road that stays pretty busy with people traveling between towns. At Jayakumaran Bricks, we focus on the basic task of turning earth into building material. It is a process that hasn't changed much over the years. We wake up early to beat the worst of the sun, though by midday it is always hot near the kilns. The red soil around here is good for what we do. We have stacks of bricks drying in the sun most days, lined up in long rows. It takes a lot of patience to wait for them to be ready. Sometimes the supply of wood for the fires runs low and we have to scramble to find more. Rasipuram is a nice place to live and work, even if the work itself is a bit dirty. We don't have a showroom or anything like that. If you want to see our bricks, you just come to the yard and look at the piles. We talk to the truck drivers and the local builders who stop by. It is a straightforward business without any bells and whistles. We just try to get the firing right so the bricks come out strong. Most of the time, our hands are stained orange from the clay, but we don't mind. It's just part of the day.
