Sali Travels

Our place is in Rallavagu Thanda Village, which is under the Kondrapolu Post in Damaracherla Mandal. The house number is 4-36. We are way out in the district, far from the big city lights. This is a small village operation where we help people get from one place to another. We have a couple of vehicles that we use for trips. Most of our work is taking people to the station or into the bigger towns for weddings or hospital visits. The roads around here can be rough, especially after the monsoon, so we spend a lot of time checking the tires and the engines. It is a quiet life in the Thanda. Everyone knows each other here. When the phone rings, it is usually a neighbor or someone from a nearby village needing a ride. We don't have a big office or a waiting room. People just come to the house or we meet them on the main road. My family helps out with the cleaning and keeping the logbooks. It is not a high-tech business. We just write down the trips in a diary and make sure we have enough fuel for the next day. Sometimes we have to drive long distances through the night. It is tiring but it is how we make our living. We’ve been serving this area for a long time and plan to stay right here in Damaracherla for years to come.
