A.N. Travels

Down in Gundrempally village, at Plat No: 4-32/1-1, you’ll find the office for A.N. Travels. It’s a small room with a couple of chairs and a desk where we keep the logs for the vehicles. Living and working in the Chandur area means we know the roads around here pretty well. We deal with people looking to get from one village to another or heading into the bigger towns in Telangana. It’s a lot of coordinating drivers and making sure the cars are fueled up and clean enough for the next passenger. Sometimes a driver calls in sick or a tire goes flat, and we have to scramble to find a backup so no one is left waiting on the side of the road. It isn't a glamorous job. We spend a lot of time on our mobiles, taking bookings at odd hours of the night. The office is right there in the village, so neighbors often stop by just to chat or ask about bus timings. We keep a paper calendar on the wall to track the big trips and a ledger for the money. It can get a bit hectic during the festival seasons when everyone wants to travel at once. We just try to keep the vehicles running and get people where they need to go without too much fuss. It’s a local service for local people, run right from the village.
