You can find us at Badri Puram, over in the Ramtekri area. We are right near the Yadav Dharmkanta, which is how most people find their way to us. It is an engineering shop, so there is always the sound of tools and metal. We have been working out of this spot for quite some time. The floor is usually covered in metal shavings or a bit of oil. That’s just part of the job. We don’t wear suits here; it’s mostly grease-stained clothes and work boots. We take on whatever mechanical or engineering tasks come through the door. Some days we are fixing a part for someone’s machine, and other days we are building something from scratch. It gets pretty loud when the machines are all going at once. We usually have the radio playing in the background, though you can’t always hear it over the noise. We know the other shop owners around Ramtekri. We borrow tools from each other sometimes when we are in a pinch. It isn’t a high-tech lab. It is a place where we use our hands and real tools to get things done. We stay until the job is finished, even if it gets late into the evening. Most of the people who come to us have been told about the shop by someone else who was here before. We just focus on the work in front of us and try to do it right.
