We’ve been running Damodara Engineering Construction Pvt Ltd for a good bit of time now from our office over in State Bank Colony. It’s a quiet area in Gopal Nagar, Nagpur. Most days involve looking at drawings or talking to the guys on the sites. It isn’t always easy, especially when weather gets bad or materials don't show up when they're supposed to. We started small, just a few of us trying to handle local jobs. Nagpur has changed a lot since we opened here. There’s more traffic now and the roads are busier. Our office at 440022 is where most of the paperwork happens. It’s got a lot of files and a couple of old desks. We usually have tea together in the afternoon while going over what needs doing for the next morning. It’s a lot of practical stuff, making sure the measurements are right and the concrete is good. Sometimes people just walk in asking for directions since we're near the bank colony. We don't have a big fancy reception or anything like that. Just some chairs and a calendar on the wall that's usually marked up with dates. Dealing with construction means you’re always busy with something, whether it’s a small repair or a bigger structure. We just keep at it day by day. It’s hard work but it’s what we know. The guys have been with us a long time, so we’re more like a small family than a big corporation.
