Thakre Engineering Services

Our place is over in Guru Dev Nagar, right on Nandanvan Road. We are pretty close to the Smt. Jankidevi Jaiswal Primary School. You can usually hear the kids playing during recess if the wind is blowing the right way. Thakre Engineering Services isn't a massive operation or anything like that. It's a small shop filled with machines and bits of metal everywhere. We spend most of the day hunched over lathes or welding stuff together. It’s loud and smells like burnt metal most of the time, but that’s just how an engineering shop is. My father started this kind of work and I just kept it going. The walls are a bit grey from all the smoke and age. We don’t have a big office or anything, just a small desk in the corner covered in drawings and oily fingerprints. Most people who come here are locals from around Nandanvan who need something fixed or a part made for their equipment. It gets cramped when we have a big project on the floor, and you have to watch where you step so you don’t trip over a cable. Sometimes it’s just one long day after another, especially when a machine breaks down and needs a lot of attention. We don’t do much advertising; people just seem to find us or hear about us from someone else in the neighborhood. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from morning until the sun goes down.
