Studio Bios Architecture

We run Studio Bios Architecture out of a place called 210 House in Surendra Nagar. It’s right near Devnagar Chowk in Nagpur, so it’s easy for people to find once they get to the main intersection. Working out of a house gives the office a much more relaxed feel than those big glass buildings downtown. We’ve got our drawing boards and computers set up in the main rooms. It’s a bit of a maze sometimes with all the models and rolls of paper lying around on the floor. We spend our days sketching out ideas and trying to figure out how to make things fit in the spaces people have. Architecture involves a lot of trial and error, and there’s always a lot of erasing and starting over. The neighborhood is fairly quiet, which helps when we need to focus on some complicated calculations. We often have people dropping by just to see how their plans are coming along. We don't do much in the way of big marketing; most of our work comes from people seeing buildings we worked on or hearing about us from someone else in Nagpur. It's just a small group of us here, and we like it that way. We don't have a receptionist or anything, so usually, whoever is closest to the door just gets up to say hello. It’s a very hands-on way of doing things.
