Architect Girish Palod

My office is right here in Trimurti Nagar, Nagpur, in the Vinayak Purushottam Apartment. I’m in Flat No 102 on the ground level. A lot of people know the area because we are quite near Bhawans School, which is a major landmark for anyone living around here. I’ve been working as an architect in this space for a good while. It’s not a big corporate firm; it’s just me and a small bit of help when I need it. The apartment is where all the drawings and planning happen. I usually have rolls of blueprints and sketches scattered around the main room. People from the neighborhood often stop by to talk about building a house or fixing up their shops. It’s a very local way of doing things, and I like it that way. I don't go in for fancy presentations. I’d rather just sit down with a pencil and show someone what I’m thinking on a piece of paper. Trimurti Nagar is a nice, settled part of Nagpur, so it’s easy for clients to visit without too much trouble. I spend a lot of time visiting sites, but most of the brain work happens right here at my desk. It’s a simple setup that works for me and the people I work for. If you’re near the school, you’re basically there. I just try to make houses that people actually want to live in without all the extra nonsense.
