Stone World

We've been at No - 315 in the Kamdar Complex for quite a while now. If you head down C.A. Road, you'll find us among all the other shops. Most days start early, usually with a cup of tea while we look over what needs to go out. The showroom gets pretty dusty because of the nature of the stones, so there is a lot of wiping down involved. It’s a busy spot, and sometimes the traffic outside makes it hard to hear the phone ring. We deal with heavy slabs all day, so the floors here have seen better days. It isn’t a fancy office with leather chairs. It’s mostly just desks, samples, and people coming in to check colors for their kitchen or floors. Most of our guys have been here for years and know the different types of rock just by looking at them from across the room. We don't spend much time on the computer unless we're doing the accounts or checking a delivery. It's mostly physical work, moving things around and making sure the right pieces get loaded onto the trucks. Sometimes the trucks show up late, or a crate gets stuck in transit, which can be frustrating. That's just how the stone business goes though. You get used to the pace after a bit. It’s a bit noisy here, but it feels like home to us. We just keep our heads down and get the orders ready day after day.
