Working out of Plot T-48 in the MIDC area off Hingna Road is always a noisy affair. There's usually the sound of saws going or someone moving heavy planks around. We've got a decent sized space here but it always feels full of wood piles. Sawdust gets everywhere, even in our tea if we aren't careful. We make a lot of different things, mostly for offices and homes. It’s not just about looking at catalogs; there’s a lot of heavy lifting involved. The trucks come in and out all day long. Some days are hotter than others, especially under the tin roof when the sun is really beating down on the Hingna side. We’ve got a crew that knows their way around a lathe and a sander. Most of the guys have been here for years. We aren't really into the flashy stuff you see in big malls. We just focus on getting the joints right and making sure the wood is seasoned properly. It's a messy job but seeing a finished wardrobe or a solid table at the end of the shift feels good. We spend a lot of time checking the grain of the wood. Sometimes the machines act up and we have to spend half the morning fixing a belt or oiling the gears. That’s just part of the routine at the factory. We usually close up when it gets too dark to see clearly and head home.
