We’ve been here at the Wardhaman Nagar Chowk on C. A. Road for a while now. It gets pretty dusty with all the wood we cut in the back. Most days it is just us measuring things out and making sure the legs on a table do not wobble. People walk in from the street asking if we can fix a broken drawer or make a wardrobe that fits in a tiny corner. We mostly deal with plywood and laminates. The shop isn't fancy at all. There are wood shavings all over the floor by noon and the smell of sawdust is everywhere. My hands always have some glue or stain on them. We do not have a big showroom with bright lights, just the workshop where the work actually happens. Sometimes the traffic outside the chowk is so loud we have to shout over the saws to hear each other. It is a lot of physical labor, lifting heavy boards and sanding them down until they feel right under your hand. We try to get things done when we say we will, though sometimes the wood takes longer to dry if it is raining. It’s just a regular local spot where we make stuff for people's houses. Nothing too complicated. We just focus on getting the joints tight and the finish smooth enough so it looks decent in a living room. That is basically what happens here every day from morning until we close up.
