Nekwakhtpur Farmer Producer Company Limited is basically just us villagers trying to figure out a better way to do our farming. We operate out of Maya Devi’s house, who is Narsingh Ram’s wife, over in Nekawakhatpur. It is a quiet place where people have been tilling the land for as long as anyone can remember. We decided to form this company because doing everything alone was getting too expensive and difficult. When you are just one small farmer, nobody really listens to you. Now that we have this group, we can talk to suppliers and buyers as one voice. It isn't always easy, and there are plenty of arguments about how things should be done during our meetings at the house. We deal with the usual stuff like soil quality, getting the right fertilizers, and hoping the harvest turns out okay so we can pay our bills. The village life here is simple but it is very tough. We spend most of our hours outdoors, and this company is just an extension of that daily grind. We aren't trying to be some big corporate entity. We just want to make sure the folks in Nekawakhatpur get a fair shake. Sometimes the paperwork gets confusing and we are still learning the ropes of running a business, but the main thing is the crops and the people growing them. We just take it one day at a time here and hope for the best for everyone.
