Tata Coffee

Over in Pollibetta, things are usually green and a bit damp. Our address is 75-4-16 in Virajpet Thaluk, which is deep in the heart of the coffee area. You can hear the birds and the sound of the trees whenever you step outside. It’s a big operation, but on the ground, it’s just us doing the same things every day. We spend a lot of time walking between the different buildings and checking on how things are drying. The air always feels a bit heavy here, especially during the monsoon months. We’ve got a lot of history in this particular spot, but we don't think about that much while we're working. We’re more focused on whether the gates are locked and if the trucks are on time. The office part of the building is old, with high ceilings and fans that have been spinning for decades. It isn't a modern glass building by any means. We like the way the light comes through the trees in the late afternoon. Most of us have been working in this area for a long time, so we know the roads and the shortcuts through the plantations. It’s a quiet life compared to the city, but there is always plenty to do. We don't have any flashy signs, just the work that speaks for itself. It’s a steady rhythm we follow, day in and day out, in Virajpet.
