Sri Mahaganapathy Coffee Traders

Sri Mahaganapathy Coffee Traders is located out on Kodagu Road at number 501. If you know this area, you know how much coffee moves through these parts. Our space is mostly just filled with big jute sacks piled up against the walls. It isn't a fancy showroom or anything. We spend a lot of time just checking the beans and making sure everything is dry. The air here always feels a little heavy when it rains, and we have to be careful about the moisture getting into the bags. My father used to handle the trading before me, and not much has changed in terms of how we do things. We talk to the drivers who bring the loads in and the local buyers who need a few kilos for their own shops. Sometimes the phone rings all day and other times it’s quiet enough to hear the birds outside. We don’t really do any big advertising because people around here already know where we are. Dealing with coffee is a messy job, and by the end of the shift, the office area is usually a bit disorganized with papers and samples everywhere. It’s just how it goes when you’re working with bulk goods. We try to keep the scales calibrated right because that’s the most important thing in this business. It’s just plain work, day in and day out on Kodagu Road.
