Sri Chamundeshwari Brick Industries

Sri Chamundeshwari Brick Industries is over here at 1011/1, on the 4th Cross in the 2nd Main area. It’s mostly just a busy place where we handle the clay and the finished blocks. Most days start around sunrise when the air is still a bit cool. We have a small crew that has been with us for quite a while now. They know the rhythm of the work. You can find us near the corner where the trucks turn in. Sometimes it gets a bit noisy with the loading, but that is how a brickyard goes. We’ve seen the neighborhood change over the years, more houses going up every month. We just keep doing what we do. The soil we use comes from nearby and we let it sit for a while before the molding starts. If it rains, everything slows down and we have to cover the piles with big plastic sheets. It is not a fancy operation. There is dust on everything, including the small office where we keep the ledgers. We don't have a big fancy showroom or anything like that. People just stop by when they need to see what we have in stock. My father started things here and I just sort of took over when he got too old to manage the heavy lifting. It's honest work and it keeps us busy from Monday through Saturday. We try to get the orders ready on time but sometimes the weather has other plans for the drying racks.
