Soda Shop

Our place is on 4/2, Bannur Road. It’s a bit outside the main town center, which makes it a little quieter than the market streets. We just call it Soda Shop because that’s what it is. No need for a fancy name when everyone knows what you do anyway. The building is a bit old, and the paint is peeling in some corners, but it works for us. We have a counter in the front and the storage in the back. Most of my time is spent checking the gas levels and making sure the bottles are clean. I started this because I wanted to work for myself. It’s a lot more hours than I expected, but I don’t mind. The road out front has its busy times, especially when people are coming home from work. They pull over their bikes and have a drink before heading the rest of the way. I know most of their faces, even if I don’t know all their names. Sometimes my wife brings me lunch and we sit in the back for a few minutes. It’s not much, but it’s a living. We don’t have any big plans to expand or anything like that. We just want to keep the shop open and serve the people who travel along Bannur Road every day. The nights are quiet here, and I usually spend that time getting things ready for the next morning. It is a slow pace but it suits me fine.
