D S W Coffee Works

You can find us on the first floor of the Shiva Rathna building. It’s at 51 and 11 on Panchamantra Road in Kuvempunagar. We’ve been working with coffee here for some time. D S W Coffee Works is what it says on our sign. It’s a bit of a climb up the stairs, but it’s not too bad. The smell of roasted coffee usually hits you before you reach the door. We spend our days roasting and packing. It’s a small space, so we have to be organized. If we leave bags lying around, there’s no room to move. We aren't a massive factory. It’s just a few of us making sure things are okay. We check the beans by hand mostly. It’s tedious but necessary. Sometimes the machines act up and we have to spend the whole afternoon fixing them with a wrench and some oil. We get a lot of locals coming by. They know where we are. We don't do much advertising. People just find us. The area is decent, mostly families and small shops. We like it here. The light comes in nicely through the windows in the morning. We drink a lot of coffee ourselves, probably too much. It keeps us going through the long hours. We’re just a local business trying to do things right in our own way. We hope that when people take a bag home, they can tell it was handled with care. That is basically our whole day here on the first floor.
