Zen Cafe

Zen Cafe is found in Lower Parel on Moses Road. We actually use three different shop numbers which are 1, 2, and 3 inside KSL House. It sounds like a lot of space, but once you put in the tables and the kitchen equipment, it fills up pretty fast. Lower Parel is a place where many people work in offices. They often come in looking quite tired and we just serve them whatever they ask for. The floor has light-colored tiles and we have to mop them several times a day because people bring in dirt from the street. KSL House is a large building, but we are right there on the ground level. Our furniture isn't anything special. We bought the tables and chairs a few years ago and they have a few scratches on them now. We don't have a specific theme or a fancy concept for the cafe. We just make coffee and some simple food items. The coffee machines are quite loud, so it can be hard to hear people talking sometimes. We do all our billing on a small clipboard we keep near the entrance. The windows look out onto Moses Road, so we just see buses and cars going past all day. We stay open until the evening rush is over and then we have to lock up all three doors.
