Yogeshwar Steel Forge

You can find us at the Purankuti Building, specifically 39/41 on Prabhu Sri Ram Mandir Marg. We are right there in the 4th Kumbharwada Lane, which is usually a hive of activity from dawn until dusk. Working with steel forge means there’s always a bit of noise and the smell of hot metal in the air. The building itself is an older one, but it’s sturdy enough for the kind of heavy work we do at Yogeshwar Steel Forge. We don't have fancy signs or a big lobby with chairs. It’s just the workshop floor and a small corner where we keep the records and our lunch boxes. The lane is quite tight, so getting materials in and out takes a bit of planning and sometimes a lot of shouting to clear the way for the trucks. Most of the guys here have been working these machines for years. We know the quirks of the hammers and the furnaces like the back of our hands. It gets very hot, especially in the summer months, so we keep the fans going at full blast and drink plenty of water. We don't really do much in the way of meetings; we just talk over the noise of the shop. If there’s a problem with a piece of steel, we just fix it and move on to the next one. Being near the temple, we often hear the bells ringing in the morning, which is a nice way to start the shift. It’s hard work, but it’s what we do.
