Ashapura Steel

Ashapura Steel has its small spot at Shop No. 8 in R. K. Wadi, down the 2nd Parsiwada Lane. It is a tight space, as anyone who has been to this part of the city knows. We have steel rods and sheets tucked into every corner of the shop. It is a bit cramped, and you have to watch your step so you do not trip over a pipe or a piece of scrap metal. We spend most of our time measuring things out and cutting metal to size for the local builders and contractors who stop by. The lane is narrow, so getting big deliveries in is always a bit of a struggle, but we manage. My hands are usually covered in some kind of grease or metal dust by midday. We do not have a fancy showroom or anything like that. People just come in, tell us what they need for their project, and we see if we have it in the back or if we can get it soon. It is a noisy business, especially when the saws are going, but that is just part of being in the steel trade. We have seen the neighborhood change quite a bit over the years, but the shop stays pretty much the same. It is a lot of heavy lifting and sweating, but it is what we do. We try to be fair with everyone who walks through the door and get them what they need.
