Harshad Metal Corporation

We’re located over in Malad West, inside the Bombay Talkies Compound. It’s an interesting place with a lot of history, but these days it’s just full of businesses like ours. Harshad Metal Corporation occupies No. 225. We deal with various types of metal, mostly sheets and rods. It’s a heavy job. We are constantly moving things around with trolleys. The floor is concrete and pretty beat up from all the weight. You can hear the clanging of metal hitting metal all day long. It’s definitely not a quiet office. We wear heavy gloves because the edges can be sharp. Customers come in looking for specific grades of steel or aluminum. We do our best to keep everything sorted, but sometimes the piles get a little mixed up. The Mumbai humidity makes the air feel thick inside the warehouse. We have a small desk in the corner where we keep the records. It’s mostly just paper files and a dusty computer. We don't spend money on fancy signs or decorations. The metal is what matters. In the evenings, the compound gets a bit quieter after the other shops close. We usually stay until the last truck is loaded. It’s hard work, but it’s what we know. We’ve been in the compound for a while and know most of our neighbors. It’s just another day in the city, really. We just keep our heads down and get the metal shipped out.
