If you come down to 110, Sangeet Plaza on M.M. Road, you’ll find us. Western Cans Pvt. Ltd. has been operating out of Marol for quite some time. It's a busy area in Andheri(E), always sounds of traffic and people moving about. Inside our unit, it's mostly the sound of metal and machines. We make cans. It sounds simple, but there's a lot of little things that can go wrong if you aren't paying attention. The office part is tucked away in the corner where we keep the ledgers. It gets pretty dusty, no matter how much we sweep. Most of us have worked here for years. We know each other's kids' names and who likes their coffee with extra sugar. We aren't a giant factory with thousands of people, just a local spot making sure the orders for our clients get filled on time. The lift in the plaza is a bit temperamental, so we usually just take the stairs instead of waiting. Working in Marol means you get used to the rain during monsoon and the crowded trains. We just keep our heads down and stay busy. There isn't much glory in making cans, but they are needed for so many things. We take a break when the power fluctuates, which happens sometimes. It’s just how it is. We usually have a bit of a laugh during lunch break, sitting on the crates. It’s not a fancy life, but it’s ours and we do it well enough.
