Walsingham House School

Walsingham House School is located at 80, Lady Jagmohandas Road. It’s a big old building that has been part of the landscape here for a very long time. Walking through the halls, you can tell the place has some history to it. The floors are worn down in spots where generations of students have walked. It isn't a modern, shiny glass structure. It's more of a solid, stone place that feels very much like South Mumbai. We have our routines here. The gates open early and the street gets quite busy with cars and buses. Inside, we just try to keep things organized. There are classrooms filled with wooden desks and blackboards that we still use. The staff room is usually a bit of a mess with papers and half-finished cups of tea. We don't have any big slogans on the walls. It’s just a school where we try to teach the kids what they need to know. Some of the windows have a view of the trees outside, which is nice when it’s raining. It gets a bit drafty in the winter months, if you can call it winter here, but we don’t mind much. Everyone just knows where they need to be. It’s a steady sort of life. We’ve seen many families come through these doors over the decades. It's just home for us. We just keep the lights on and the lessons going day after day.
