Karthika High School And Jr. College is tucked away on New Hall Road in Kurla West. It's a busy spot, right near Sheetal Cinema, so there is always a lot of traffic and people moving around outside. Being in Mumbai, space is always a bit tight, but we’ve managed to fit the high school and the junior college all in one building. The halls are usually crowded between classes when the older students are moving around. We have students coming from all over Kurla and even further away because the train station isn't too far. It gets quite loud during the intervals, especially with the cinema crowds nearby. We have the science labs and the regular classrooms you'd expect. The building has seen many years of students passing through its doors. Some of the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we are more worried about the daily schedule. It’s a bit of a maze inside if you aren't used to it. The teachers have their small staff room where they drink tea and grade papers. It isn't a luxury institution, just a place for regular kids to finish their schooling and maybe get their college certificates. You can hear the city noise all day long, but the students just get used to it and focus on their work. We stay open pretty late for the college batches.
