Our office is over in Worli, specifically on the second floor of Vaswani Chambers on Dr Annie Besant Road. It’s a pretty well-known stretch of road in Mumbai, right near all the big corporate buildings. We deal with spirits and drinks, so there is always paperwork to handle regarding permits and shipments. The office isn't anything you would see in a magazine. It’s got desks, some filing cabinets, and a few sample bottles sitting around the place. We spend a lot of time on the phone or responding to emails about where the next lot of stock is. The commute to this part of town can be a nightmare because of the traffic, so we all show up at different times depending on the local trains or the bus. It’s a functional space. We don’t have a big reception area or a coffee machine that does anything special. Usually, we just get some tea from the guy downstairs. Working with fine spirits sounds like it might be glamorous, but mostly it is just checking labels and making sure the transport trucks are on schedule. The building has a lot of other businesses too, so the elevators are always full. We stay busy with the day-to-day tasks. We aren't trying to change the world, just trying to make sure the inventory moves and the accounts are balanced at the end of every month.
