Vishwakarma Pattern Works

Vishwakarma Pattern Works has been at Shanti Niwas near Tolani Naka for quite a while now. Most people know us because we’re just around the corner from Kamlesh Apartment in Andheri East. It gets pretty loud here with the machines running all day, but that is just how the pattern making business goes. We started out small, just a few tools and a lot of wood shavings. These days, the work has changed a bit with new designs coming in, yet the basics of making a good pattern for casting stay the same. My father used to say that if the pattern isn't right, the whole metal part will be a mess, so we spend a lot of time checking measurements. We don’t have a big fancy office or a front desk with a receptionist. Usually, you’ll find me or one of the guys covered in dust or paint, trying to get an order finished before the deadline. The traffic in Sher-E-Punjab Society can be a nightmare in the evenings, so we try to get our deliveries out early. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just sit outside for a bit until it comes back. It isn't a glamorous life, but it keeps us busy and the bills paid. We handle whatever comes through the door, from small wooden blocks to more complicated stuff for the local foundries. If you walk past the shop, you’ll likely hear the sanding belts or someone arguing about a blueprint. It's just a regular workshop.
