We work out of Room Number 2 in Government Chawl 82. This is over in Shastri Nagar, specifically the Chunabatti area of Santacruz West. It’s a very busy and crowded part of the city. There’s always people moving around, clothes drying on lines, and neighbors talking across the corridors. Our office is just this one room. It’s small, but we’ve managed to fit everything we need inside. We have some desks, a computer, and stacks of papers that we try to keep organized. Most of the time we are busy with recruitment and helping people get work abroad. It’s a lot of paperwork and checking documents. Because we are in a chawl, it gets quite warm during the day, so we usually have the fan going at full speed. We’ve been in this same room for a long time. People in Shastri Nagar know where to find us. We don’t have a fancy entrance or a lobby. You just walk up and knock on the door. Sometimes we have a queue of people outside if it’s a busy day. We get our tea from the local stall just down the lane. It’s a very basic setup, but it works for what we do. We don’t need much else to stay busy. It’s a noisy, lively place to work, but it keeps us connected to the neighborhood. We just take things one day at a time from our little corner in Room 2.
