Vijaya Tea Trading Co. Pvt. Ltd. is based in Sharda Chambers No. 2, specifically at room 105 on K.N. Road. It’s an older building that has a lot of character and history, and we’ve been tucked away in this small office for quite a long while now. As the name suggests, we spend our entire day dealing with different types of tea. The office often has a faint smell of dried tea leaves, which is something you get used to after just a few days of working here. We aren't a big corporation with hundreds of employees; we’re a smaller team that knows the tea business inside and out. Our desks are usually piled high with samples from different gardens and stacks of invoices that need sorting. We don't have a lot of modern decor or glass partitions. It’s more about solid desks and shelves filled with old records and ledger books. People come by to talk about tea prices or to check on their orders, and we usually have a fresh pot of tea going for anyone who drops in for a chat. K.N. Road is a busy place, and the sounds of the street definitely make it into the office, but we don't mind it much. It’s just part of the local environment. We focus on getting the tea from the producers to the people who need it without making a big fuss about it. It’s steady work that requires a bit of patience and a good eye for quality. We just keep things simple here.
