Vijay Metal Works

At Vijay Metal Works, things are usually pretty loud and a bit messy. Being located over in the Dahisar Kalina 6 area means we are surrounded by other workshops and small factories. We spend our days cutting, bending, and welding various bits of metal for whoever walks through the door. My hands are almost always covered in grease or some kind of metal dust, and my clothes have seen better days for sure. We don't have a receptionist or a fancy waiting room. If you come by, you’ll probably find us hunched over a machine or trying to fix a tool that decided to quit on us. The shop floor is crowded with scraps and half-finished projects that we need to get through. It gets really hot in here during the summer months, but we just keep the big doors open and hope for a breeze. We have some regular guys who work with us, and we mostly just talk about the work or what’s going on in the neighborhood while we eat our lunch. We don't really have a big plan for the future or anything. We just want to do the jobs we have on the schedule and make sure the machines are working for the next day. It’s hard work, but it’s what we know how to do best after all these years. Some days the noise gets to you, but then you finish a job and it feels alright.
