If you go behind Alankar Cinema on Nanubhai Desai Road, you’ll find our place at 80/82. It’s an old part of town and the road gets pretty jammed up, especially when the movie crowds are around in the evenings. We work with steel, which is heavy and noisy, so our neighbors are probably used to the clanking sounds by now. The facility isn’t anything special to look at, just a lot of metal, machines, and storage racks. We’ve been here long enough that we know every crack in the concrete floor. Most of the guys have been with us for years and know exactly what to do. We handle all sorts of steel orders, some big industrial ones and some just small bits for local builders. It gets incredibly hot in the summer, but we just keep the fans going and get on with the task. There’s always dust in the air and that specific smell of cutting oil. We don’t spend money on advertising or fancy signs. Most people find us because they’ve been coming here for decades or heard about us from a friend. We just provide what’s asked for and try to be fair about the cost. The office is just a small corner with a couple of chairs that have seen better days. It’s a practical setup for a practical trade. We don’t see any reason to change things. It works for us and it works for the people who buy from us.
