Vardhman Tea Packers

You can find us on Station Road over in Masjid Bandar. It’s always crowded and noisy around here, especially being so close to the New Jama Masjid. Vardhman Tea Packers has been operating out of this spot for a while now. It’s a busy area for trade, so there are always trucks and carts moving about. We handle the packing part of the tea business. It’s a lot of manual work, filling bags and making sure they are sealed up properly before they head out. The space isn't huge, but we make it work. The smell of the tea is very strong in the shop, which I’ve gotten used to after all these years. My clothes usually smell like it by the time I go home. We don't have any shiny office chairs or glass walls. It’s just a practical workspace with bags piled up and scales on the counters. We deal with a lot of different people coming through the station area. Some are looking for just a small amount, others want more. We try to keep things moving so nobody has to wait too long in the heat. It’s honest work and it keeps the family fed. We aren't looking to change the world, just to get the tea packed and sent to wherever it needs to go next. Sometimes we stay late when a big delivery arrives, but that is just part of the job here in Mumbai.
