Universal Steel Industries

Universal Steel Industries is tucked into the Shivbhole Laghu Udyog area on L.B.S. Marg. We are right across from the Hindustan Construction place in Vikhroli West. It’s a busy part of town, so there is always a lot of movement on the street outside our unit, D-1. Inside, it’s mostly just the sound of cutting and grinding steel. We have a small crew that has been here for years now. The space is a bit cramped because we try to fit as much stock as possible in there. You have to watch your step so you don’t trip over a bar or a sheet of metal. It’s not the kind of place you’d come for a fancy meeting. We usually just talk business standing up on the shop floor while the machines are running. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we’re more focused on getting the orders out on time. Sometimes the traffic on L.B.S. Marg makes it hard for the delivery vans to get in, so we end up doing a lot of loading in the early morning hours. It’s a practical, no-nonsense kind of setup. We don't have a website that anyone really looks at, and we don't do big promotions. People just know we are here and that we handle steel. Showing up, doing the work, and keeping things simple for everyone involved is how we operate. It’s a living and it keeps us busy.
