Tools & Hardware Mart

Tools & Hardware Mart is tucked away on the third floor of No. 88/92 Nagdevi Cross Lane. If you’ve ever been to Nagdevi, you know it’s a maze of narrow streets and shops everywhere you look. We are in Room No. 16, so you have to walk up the stairs since there isn't a big elevator for everyone to use. It’s a bit of a climb but we have all sorts of tools and hardware bits stored up here. The room is pretty full of boxes and shelves, so there isn't much space to walk around once you get inside. We spend a lot of time searching through bins to find exactly the right size of bolt or a specific tool someone is looking for. It’s noisy outside with all the porters and handcarts moving goods through the lane. We’ve been in this spot for years and we know the rhythm of the market. Sometimes it’s hard to find us if you aren't looking closely at the signs, but the regulars know the way. We keep the books by hand mostly and spend the day answering the phone or helping people who make it up to the third floor. It’s not a shiny retail store, it’s a working hardware mart where things are a bit messy but we know where everything is. It’s just how Nagdevi works, and we are happy to be part of it.
