About The Teapot Cafe – Food & Beverages in Mumbai
We've been on Fort Bellary Road in Sahakar Nagar for a bit now. It's just a small spot at Kempapura 15A. I remember when we first got the keys, the walls were bare. We just wanted a place for people to sit down. The tea is hot and the snacks are simple. We don't have fancy furniture or anything like that. It’s mostly locals who come in. Sometimes it gets loud when the college kids visit, but mostly it’s quiet. We spend a lot of time cleaning the tables and making sure the kettle is always ready. It's not a big chain, just us. We’ve seen the neighborhood change quite a bit from our window. People walk by on their way to work and sometimes they stop in for a quick cup. We don't do much advertising. Most people find us just by walking past. The sign outside is a little faded now but we haven't gotten around to painting it yet. It feels like home to us. We handle everything ourselves, from the dishes to the ordering. It's a lot of work but we like it. If you're around Sahakar Nagar, you'll see us there. It's nothing special from the street, but the tea is good and it's a place to rest your feet. We have some mismatched chairs we picked up over time. One wobbles a bit if you sit on it wrong. The kettle is almost never quiet. I spend my morning getting the milk and checking the tea leaves. It’s a routine that makes the day go by.
