The Saraswati Metal Cutting & Pressing Works

We are over in Chembur East, near the Sindhi Camp in Thakur Village. The address is No 37/45. It is a bit of an older part of the area, which suits us just fine. We do metal cutting and pressing work. It is heavy, physical work. The machines we use are quite old, but they still run better than some of the newer ones we have seen. You can hear the press from down the street when we are really busy. It is a steady thud-thud-thud all through the afternoon. The shop floor is almost always covered in metal shavings, no matter how much we try to sweep it up. We have been at this for a long time. It is a family-run sort of place, or at least it feels that way because we have all worked together for so many years. We do not have a fancy logo or a glossy brochure. If someone needs something cut or pressed, they just come by the shop and show us what they need. We figure out the right settings on the machines and get to it. It is very straightforward. Chembur is a crowded place, so we have to be careful when we are moving the bigger sheets of metal around the street. We do not have a big staff, just enough to keep the machines fed. It is just regular work.
