The Nagdevi Tool-Steel Mart

The Nagdevi Tool-Steel Mart is located at 1786 Nagdevi Street, which is basically a narrow canyon of hardware shops. If you come here, prepare to get pushed around by the crowds. Our shop is small and packed with all kinds of tool steel. We’ve got stuff piled up so high you can barely see the ceiling in some spots. It’s a bit of a struggle to find things sometimes, but we know our inventory by heart. We don’t use any fancy computers to track what we have; it’s all in our heads or in a thick ledger on the desk. The air in the shop is always thick with the smell of oil and cold metal. We don’t have any air conditioning, so the big table fan just moves the hot air around all day. Most of our customers are regulars who have been coming to Nagdevi Street for years. We don't bother with fancy displays or advertisements because there just isn't any room for them. It’s a practical place for people who need specific materials for their tools. We spend a lot of time cutting steel to size and hauling it out to the front. It’s hard on the back, and our hands are always stained grey by the end of the shift. We just keep the shop open and wait for the next person to squeeze through the door.
