About The J.B. Petit High School For Girls – Education in Mumbai
Our school sits right on Maharshi Dadhichi Marg in Fort, which is a part of town that always feels like it’s in a hurry. Being at number 5 means we are right in the middle of all that old Mumbai history. The building itself has so much character, with its high ceilings and thick walls that keep the heat out during the summer months. We spend our days walking these corridors, usually carrying stacks of papers or heading to the next class. It’s a girls' school, so there is always a lot of chatter during the lunch breaks. We don't really do the whole polished marketing thing. We are just a group of teachers and staff trying to keep things moving along. Sometimes the traffic outside gets loud, but we’re used to it by now. The windows let in a good amount of light, and the old wood floors have their share of scuffs from years of feet walking over them. We keep the place tidy, but it definitely feels lived-in. Every morning starts the same way, with the gates opening and the street noise fading as everyone settles into their desks. It’s a practical place to work, and we’ve been part of this neighborhood for a long time. There isn't much to say other than we are here every day doing what needs to be done for the students, without any fuss or fancy speeches.
