The Collection

The Collection is located on the second floor of Orchid City Center, shop number A2-752/753. It’s right in the middle of Mumbai Central, so it gets quite loud and busy out there on the streets. Up here in the shop, we spend our time unpacking boxes and hanging clothes on the racks. We’ve been here for a bit now, and we see all kinds of people walking through the mall. Some just want to look at the fabric, while others are in a hurry to find something for a wedding or a party. We keep the shop organized, but by the end of a long Saturday, things can get a little disorganized with the piles of clothes in the fitting rooms. I usually spend my mornings checking the inventory and making sure we have the right sizes. The lighting in the mall is bright, so we try to keep the windows clean so people can see what we’ve got. It’s a lot of standing on your feet and talking to customers. Sometimes we have a coffee in the back when it’s slow, but usually, there’s someone coming in to ask about a price or a different color. It’s a simple retail job, nothing too fancy, just keeping the shop running and making sure the hangers are straight. Mumbai is a fast city, so we try to keep up with what people are wearing daily.
