The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf

Model House 1 in Tardeo is an interesting old building to work in. Every morning when I get to The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, the first thing I do is check the machines and get the counters ready. Tardeo has a specific kind of energy, especially with all the offices and people rushing around. Our spot is right there on the ground level, so we see everyone coming and going throughout the day. The air inside usually smells like roasted beans and different kinds of dried leaves, which is a nice change from the car exhaust outside. I spend a lot of time just cleaning the steam wands and wiping the tables. The light in the morning is quite nice, but by the afternoon it gets a bit dim inside the building. We get a lot of regulars who don't even have to say their order anymore; I just see them walking up and start getting things ready. It can get pretty loud when the blender is going and the music is playing at the same time. Sometimes the delivery trucks block the entrance for a few minutes, but that’s just life in this part of town. I don’t have much to complain about, really. It is a steady job and I like the people I work with. We just try to get the drinks out fast so people can get back to their offices.
