You can find our office at Barar House in Masjid Bunder West. We are up on the 4th floor, room number 237/39. The elevator in this building is one of those old ones with the grill doors, and sometimes it's faster to just take the stairs if you aren't carrying too much. Masjid Bunder is a very crowded area, especially during the middle of the day with all the handcarts and laborers moving goods. I’ve been working from this office for a long time. It’s filled with old wooden furniture and stacks of files that go back years. We deal with trading, mostly sitting on the phone or talking to people who come up to the floor. It’s a bit dusty because of all the paperwork, but it has a certain character. I usually have a fan going right over my head because it gets quite stuffy on the higher floors. We have a small window that gives a bit of light, but mostly we rely on the tube lights. My name is Suresh and I run the operations here with one helper. We take a lunch break when the market slows down a bit in the afternoon. It’s a very traditional way of doing business, nothing like the modern glass offices you see in other parts of Mumbai. We know our regulars and they know where to find us.
