Supreme Tea Depot

Supreme Tea Depot is down at 78 Masjid Bunder Road. We are on J B Shah Marg in the Khadak area. It’s a very old part of the city. We are right opposite the Aga Khans Khoja Jamad Khana and quite close to the Chinch Bunder Post Office. This whole area smells like spices and tea. Our shop is full of big sacks of tea leaves. We have old scales for weighing everything out. It’s a very busy place, with carts and trucks moving through the narrow streets all the time. The noise is something you never really get used to, but you learn to talk over it. We spend our day scooping tea into bags and talking to the people who come in. Many of them have been buying from us for a long time. The building is old, and the walls are a bit stained from the years, but it’s sturdy. We don't have any computers or fancy displays. It’s just tea and more tea. Sometimes it gets so crowded in the shop that people have to wait outside on the pavement. The Post Office nearby is a good place to tell people to look for if they can’t find J B Shah Marg. We open up early because that’s when the market is most active. By the end of the day, our clothes smell like tea. It’s just how life is at Masjid Bunder. We stay busy.
