Super Tube Works

You’ll find us on the second floor of the Thakkar Industrial Estate. Our spot is Gala No. 4/B. It’s right next to the Lokhandwala Minarva building in Lower Parel. Being in Lower Parel is a bit strange these days because there are so many high-rise towers and fancy offices coming up around us. But inside the estate, it still feels like the old Mumbai. The stairs are narrow and we have to be careful when we’re moving things up and down. It’s not the easiest location for heavy work, but we make it work. The gala isn't very big, so we have to stay organized. If things get cluttered, you can’t even walk across the room. We hear the sounds of the city all day—the trains nearby and the construction noise from the new buildings. It’s a busy atmosphere. At Super Tube Works, we don't have much in the way of decor. The walls are mostly covered with calendars and old notes. We’ve got our machines and our stock, and that’s about it. Most of us have been working in this area since before it got so expensive. We remember when there were more mills here. Now, we’re one of the few places left doing this kind of manual work. We just keep our heads down and handle the tubes, making sure we stay on top of the daily tasks.
