Stylist Bags

Stylist Bags is my shop, located at Shop No. 1 in the Smt. Ramdevi Hanuman Singh Chawl. We are right on the Sion Bandra Link Road, in the Kala Killa part of Dharavi. It’s a very busy area with a lot of traffic and people moving around all day. The shop is small, like most places in the chawl, but we make it work. We sell all kinds of bags here. Dharavi is famous for this kind of work, and we are just one part of it. I’ve been in this spot for a long time. The walls are a bit old and the ceiling is low, but the bags are what matter. It gets hot in the afternoons, but we keep the fan going. People walking along the link road often stop in to see what we have. We don't have a big fancy sign or anything, just the shop name on the front. It’s a lot of hard work, especially during the monsoon when the rain comes down hard on the roof. I handle most things myself, from taking the stock to talking to the customers. It’s a simple life. We don't make big promises, we just sell bags to people who need them. Being in Kala Killa means we are right in the heart of things. I usually open up early before the traffic gets too bad and stay until the sun goes down. It's just a regular business in a very busy corner of Mumbai.
