Steel Mart

Steel Mart is located on Pais Street in Byculla West. If you’re looking for 41319, you’ll find us in a spot that’s usually surrounded by heavy trucks and stacks of metal. The air here always has a bit of a metallic smell to it, which I guess is expected for a place like this. Our yard isn’t very big, so we have to be quite careful about how we stack the steel beams and plates so everything stays safe. It’s a physical job, and we’re often out there in the heat moving things around or loading up a delivery. The gate is a bit rusty and makes a loud creaking sound whenever it opens, which is pretty much all day long. We don’t have a fancy office for people to sit in; usually, visitors just stand in the doorway or near the scale while we sort things out. It’s a gritty kind of environment, but it’s honest work. The guys have thick gloves and heavy boots, and there’s always a layer of dust on everything. We have a small cabin with a fan where we keep the receipts and the phone, but we don’t spend much time in there. Byculla is a busy part of town, and Pais Street is no exception. It’s noisy, it’s crowded, and there’s always something happening. We just focus on getting the steel out to whoever needs it and keeping the operations moving as smoothly as we can manage.
