If you come down Vihar Road and look around Shanti Nagar 12, you’ll hear us before you see us. Steel Art Industries is basically just a workshop where we spend most of our time dealing with metal. It gets loud and hot, especially in the summer months when the breeze doesn't reach the back of the shop. We’ve got a few guys working here who have been around for years, so we all know each other's habits by now. It’s not a polished operation with uniforms or anything like that. We usually have grease on our hands and metal shavings on our boots. The floor is concrete and has a few cracks that we’ve just learned to walk around. We do a lot of cutting and shaping, and there’s always a pile of scrap in the corner waiting to be moved. Shanti Nagar is a busy area, so there’s always something happening outside the door. We don't spend much time on computers or fancy talk. Most of our day is spent at the benches or moving heavy sheets around. Sometimes we stay late if a job is taking longer than we thought, but mostly we try to wrap up so we can beat the worst of the traffic on Vihar Road. It’s just what we do to get by. Nothing more, nothing less. The sign on the door is peeling a bit, but everyone knows we are here.
