Star Metals

Star Metals is tucked away in room number 8 at 59/65 Durgadevi Street, near the Goldeval Mandir on Kalbadevi Road. This area is the heart of the metal market in Mumbai, and it is incredibly busy at all hours. Our space is quite small, which is common for this neighborhood. We mostly deal in trading different kinds of metals. The room is usually filled with the sound of the phone ringing and the noise from the street outside. We spend our days talking to suppliers and customers, trying to find the best materials for the right price. It’s a lot of coordination. We don't have a large staff, just a couple of us who know the metal trade inside out. We've been in Kalbadevi for a long time, so we know most of the other traders around here. It’s a place where you have to be quick and know your stuff, or you’ll get left behind. We don't have any flashy brochures or a big corporate identity. Our business is built on being here every day and making sure we get the orders right. Sometimes it’s a bit overwhelming with the crowds and the heat, but this is where the metal trade happens. We keep our records in thick ledgers and try to keep up with the daily price fluctuations. It’s a gritty, fast-paced environment, and we’re just one small part of it. We just take it one day at a time.
