Spark Master

Being located in the Guru Gobind Singh Industrial Estate means it is always a bit noisy around here. Spark Master is over at unit 255 in Goregaon East. It’s one of those places where you hear machines humming from eight in the morning until late. The stairs up to our floor are a bit steep and the paint is peeling in some spots. We have a lot of stuff stacked up along the walls because space is tight. Most of the guys bring their own tiffins for lunch, and we sit around the small table in the corner. There’s a lot of metal work happening nearby, so there is always a bit of a smell of grease in the air. We’ve had this spot for years. The lift breaks down sometimes, so we end up carrying things up by hand, which is a real workout. It gets hot in the summer months, but we have a couple of big fans that keep the air moving. Goregaon East has changed a lot, with new buildings going up everywhere, but the industrial estate stays pretty much the same. It’s a bit of a maze if you aren’t used to it. We just keep our heads down and handle the work that needs doing. Sometimes the delivery trucks block the main gate and everyone has to wait. It’s just part of being here. We don't spend much time on decorations or making things look pretty.
