Modern Steel Works is located at No. 5 Sonawala Cross Road. If you are looking for us, we are right behind Swati Studio. That is usually the easiest way to tell people how to find the shop. The road can be a bit crowded with all the other workshops and businesses in this area. It’s an old part of the neighborhood, so the buildings have some character and a lot of history. We spend our days at number 5, surrounded by the sounds of the street and the work going on inside. Swati Studio is a big landmark, so once you see that, you know you are close. Modern Steel Works isn't a fancy place with carpets or air conditioning in every room. It’s a working shop where things get made and fixed. The floor has some dust and the air smells like metal and oil. That’s just how a steel works should be. We’ve been on Sonawala Cross Road for quite a while now. The people in the neighboring shops are all familiar faces. We grab tea from the same stall every morning. It’s a busy life, but it’s honest work. We don’t put out big brochures or anything. People just come to the door at No. 5 because they know we are here. It’s a solid spot for us to be, tucked away behind the studio where we can focus on what needs to be done. The work gets done one piece at a time.
