Shri Sarneshwar Steel Art

Our workshop, Shri Sarneshwar Steel Art, is at D 446 in Goregaon East. We are located near Belekar Wadi, which is a bit of a landmark for people trying to find us. This is a place where we actually make things, so there is always the sound of metal hitting metal and the smell of welding in the air. We work with steel to create different types of art or functional pieces like gates and grills. The floor is usually covered in metal scraps and we have racks of steel rods leaning against the walls. It is a hot and noisy environment, especially during the middle of the day. We don't have a showroom with bright lights. If you want to see what we do, you just walk into the workshop and see what we are currently building. Our hands are usually dirty from the work, and we spend a lot of time measuring things twice to make sure they fit correctly. Sometimes a project takes longer than we thought, so we have to work through the evening. We are just a group of workers who enjoy making things out of steel. People from the neighborhood come to us when they need something sturdy for their homes. We don't do much talking; we mostly just let the work speak for itself. It’s a simple, honest way to make a living.
